Delta Stars
The personal development layer of our curriculum provides our children with a huge range of experiences that they may not have access to outside of school. We want all of our children to enrich their cultural capital and experience awe and wonder through different events and adventures.
The Delta Stars scheme sees each child have a beautiful, personal folder which they use to collect the landmarks on their journey. These are represented by amazing cards which all stand for a range of different skills. Children are rewarded for their success by achieving the coveted shiny cards when they collect a set number of their cards.
The folders follow our children on their journey through school so, once at the end of year 6, they have an incredible collection of their amazing achievements.
Choir
Our exceptional choir is led by the very talented Miss Leggett. The choir has an active say in the songs that are chosen so they have real ownership of the direction of the group. Our choir has won awards for its singing and even qualified for the Music for Youth national finals in Birmingham! Closer to home, our choir bring joy to our community through their beautiful singing.
Sports
We are lucky to boast not only a large, open field, but also a latest generation sports pitch. These facilities help ensure our children have many opportunities to stay active. We participate against other academies in the annual Delta Games which are a wonderful chance for our junior athletes to show off their skills!
The Great Outdoors
Thanks to being a member of Delta Academies Trust, our children get multiple opportunities to visit the beautiful Dallowgill in North Yorkshire. Back at Crookesbroom, we continue to make our school site as welcoming as possible. Working alongside the Queen’s Canopy project and the Royal Horticultural Society, our academy is greener than ever and even boasts its very own tiny forest! Our fantastic outdoor spaces are used by all children – we firmly believe that these green spaces are hugely beneficial to every member of our school community.
Community Projects
We work with our friends at the Co-op on a range of projects including our very successful soft plastic recycling scheme. We encourage our pupils to take pride in their communities and we plan many events to support local community projects which include litter picking, the DN7 foodbank and the St. Lawrence Church uniform bank.

Healthy Eating
Our pupils learn essential cooking skills in class. The sessions give them the opportunity to cook, learn different cutting and chopping techniques and try a range of different healthy recipes.
